The Last Laugh is a ten part mini-series that is essentially a pastiche of the DCU story called The Killing Joke. The idea came to me when I was unsatisfied at how the animated adaptation of the comic came about. I also thought the original adaptation lacked potential.
Even though the comic itself is more a Batman story one can interpret it as a story of Barbara Gordon's tragic demise as an active superheroine. Had the comic centered on her then it would not only paint Barbara as an even more tragic figure but a heroic one in not letting her disability defeat her. The animated adaptation tried that but with disastrous results. So I figure why not try my hand at it. Just with original characters. And the Batman & Batgirl of this version has more of a Holmes & Watson relationship.
